Jean Baptiste Rabouan is a
widely
travelled and acclaimed French photographer of international repute. There
is a hardly a region in the world he has not visited.,He is an ardent
Indophile and speaks Hindi reasonably well. He has travelled extensively through
all parts of India on repeated visits. Jean Baptiste Rabouan, in the company of
Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham volunteers, trekked from Erumeli to
Sabarimala during the period 11 to 15th January 2000 capturing the events, faces
and places typical of this pilgrimage. Jean has travelled extensively in
all parts of India. The photographs taken by him during the visit has been
published in many foreign journals including the French magazine `PELERIN' dated
19th May 2000.
After his return to France, he sent 100 top quality photographs to ABASS for their exclusive use.
Through e-mail, he also conveyed to the web master that his life was undergoing a
series of major and pleasant changes. He expressed the belief that these
could probably be due to the profound experiences that he went through during his Sabarimala visit. During his
meeting with the Web Master at Kochi,
he stated that what impressed him most was the fact the
pilgrims , while on pilgrimage, showed no segregation in terms of being rich or
poor, businessmen or beggar. All wore the same dress, walked barefoot, braved
the same hardships and never
craved for personal attention or recognition. This, he said, was a unique phenomena of this pilgrimage which
is unparalleled anywhere in the world.
Jean, We at ABASS thank you for your excellent coverage and invite you to visit us and Sabarimala whenever you have the inclination.
